@greatwombat1 - yes a nice song but since we are all correcting others, your use of "nee" is feminine - it should be replaced throughout with "né", the masculine inflection. Elle doit être une chose française, non?

Hmm as a 40 year old musician myself, I can say that playing for Joe public gets old. So many people take music too seriously and it drives an artist to drink. Sometimes its even life threatening. Its OK when we're 26 to dodge bullets but at 40 I care a lot more. As an artist I just want to chill the fuck out but people wont let me.

In the mid-70s Stevens was already dissatisfied with the life he was living and was bothered by a mounting a feeling that there must me more out there to life. In 1976 he was drowning off the coast of Malibu, California. He says he shouted, “Oh God! If you save me I will work for you.” He says that right afterward a wave appeared and carried him back to shore. A man of his word he auctioned his instruments for charity and began searching for a way to serve God that fit him.

Get over it, who cares about the religion of a person most religions are based upon the same foundation. @tabber87 plenty of people kill others don't blame it on one tiny percentage and then generalize it.

Great song. The photo which refers to him as Yusuf Islam, nee Cat Stevens is wrong, though; he was born (nee) Steven Demetre Georgiou, but changed his name (the first time) to Cat Stevens.

Cat Stevens (or Yusef Islam) should be praised for many things. His religion is not one of those things.

@niconilas It doesn't change anything, just an observation. However I'm not going to pick what songs I listen to based on a person's religion. Don't care if you're a Muslim, Christian, athiest, etc. a good song is a good song.
