MR. Bryant faced Mr. James last Thursday. It was a meeting of two MVPs: Kobe had won the award in 2008 while LeBron snatched the Most Valuable Player trophy the past two seasons. On an eight-game winning streak in the city where the Wild Card Gym resides, the Lakers team was on a roll. Miami? They had lost steam. They lost five games in a row. But, when the two squads played three nights ago, it ...

Bharatbook.com : Global Demand for Nuclear Spent Fuel Storage Casks to grow
Bharatbook.com : Global Demand for Nuclear Spent Fuel Storage Casks to grow
The new Nuclear Equipment report titled “Global Nuclear Spent Fuel Storage Market Analysis and Forecasts to 2015” ( http://www.bharatbook.com/Market-Research-Reports/Global-Nuclear-Spent-Fuel-Storage-Market-Analysis-and-Forecasts.html ) presents an in-depth analysis of spent fuel storage industry and presents forecasts of spent fuel storage equipments’ demand. Managing spent nuclear fuels across the world has been one of the major concerns of the nuclear industry worldwide. Since spent nuclear fuel from the reactors is high level radioactive waste, it is important for the nuclear power generating countries to have well organized spent fuel management mechanisms. This would give enormous opportunities for the spent fuel storage equipment manufacturers.
The report covers the global nuclear power industry development, its growth trajectory and the demand for spent fuel casks in the global nuclear power industry. The report also presents in-depth analysis on region-wise product segments and revenue analysis in the spent fuel cask industry and also analyses the key players in the global nuclear spent fuel industry. This report looks at the key players in the global nuclear spent fuel arena, with detailed company information.
Quantity of discharged spent fuel waste in temporary storage facilities grow
Globally, discharged spent fuel waste from nuclear power facilities will increasingly become a concern as many of the countries do not have a clear policy on the long term spent fuel management. Though many of the nuclear power producing countries store spent nuclear fuel in temporary pool storage facilities, lack of adequate temporary facilities will demand usage of storage casks for long-term safe storage. Thousands of tons of new nuclear fuel have been added to the nuclear power reactors every year and the discharge of spent fuel is also increasing significantly. The annual discharge of spent fuel is estimated to be about 10,000 tHM currently. This report estimates that the increasing spent fuel discharge and lack of adequate capacity in pool storage will necessitate increased dry storage capacity in nuclear power producing countries.
Global Demand for Nuclear Spent Fuel Storage Casks to grow
The actual usage was less when compared to the demand in countries having the nuclear reactor facilities. Globally 247 units were used compared to the demand of 558 units for the year 2008. The global demand for the casks will increase at an AAGR of 0.16% during the period 2008-15.
North America and Europe to Remain Key Spent Fuel Storage Markets
North America and Europe will remain to be the key markets for the spent nuclear fuel storage cask industry in the coming years. The demand for spent fuel storage cask will increase in the Asia Pacific region with the increasing number of nuclear reactors in India and China. Middle East and African region, and Central and South American region will offer relatively lower prospects to the cask industry growth during the period under review. Demand for concrete and metal casks for storage as well as transportation purpose will increase in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific region. The report analyses demand for casks, actual demand met and demand not met in the year 2008. The report also provides a forecast for the next six years up to 2015.
The Asia Pacific region to witness increasing demand for spent fuel storage casks
The scale at which nuclear industry in Asia Pacific region is expanding indicates that nuclear power countries in the region will be key markets for nuclear equipment companies worldwide. There are a number of reactors in the planned and proposed stage in countries such as India, China, Japan and South Korea. Despite these countries have operating nuclear power reactors the usage of spent fuel casks in the past has been significantly low. The potential increase in spent fuel output in the coming years and limited capacity in temporary storage facilities will drive the spent fuel casks market.

Japan Tsunami 2011
Japan Tsunami 2011
Japan was devastated by 8.9 magnitude earthquake unleashing 13 foot tsunami that swept boats, cars, buildings and tons of debris miles inland and prompting a "nuclear emergency" March 11, 2011.
Many people died estimated around 1000 and 11000 headcounts were transferred to evacuation centers. A tsunami warning has also been issued for Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and US state of Hawaii.
A tsunami warning has also been issued for Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and US state of Hawaii. Recent analysis of historical data shows that four of the top ten most deadly earthquakes and tsunamis since 1701 occurred in the last decade, including the 2004 Indian Ocean (Sumatra) and 2010 Haiti events. The magnitude 8.8 2010 Chile earthquake was the fifth largest earthquake ever recorded. These events generate questions about the frequency and severity of geologic natural hazards worldwide. The National Geophysical Data Center and co-located World Data Center for Geophysics and Marine Geology maintain a global historical event database of tsunamis, significant earthquakes, and significant volcanic eruptions (http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/hazards/). Analysis of the database revealed that while the total number of magnitude 7.5 earthquakes per decade since 1901 has remained consistent, the last decade has experienced some of the most devastating geologic events in history. Until 2010, the most deadly event in the Caribbean was the 1902 eruption of Pelee that caused 28 000 deaths. While devastating, this event is dwarfed by the 230 000 deaths that resulted from the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The 2010 Chile earthquake is among the top ten most deadly earthquakes and tsunamis in the entire history of Chile. While the database does not provide answers as to why these recent events are so deadly, the analysis reinforces the need for increasing our understanding of earthquakes and tsunamis in all regions of the world. As the global population continues to increase, placing more people at risk, it is important to dedicate resources to mitigate against the effects of such natural hazards. Experts said that this pattern was not unusual. With this earthquake as with others, essentially two tsunamis are generated, one that hits the local coastline, often within minutes, and another can travel for thousands of miles in the opposite direction, some of its energy dissipating as it spreads across the open ocean.
It is then time to reunite and be awaken about the natural effect the development has made to our Mother Earth and to the current ecological status the world is right now. Every nation who will help rebuild the broken and devastated country would be a good help in times like this.
UN, USA, Russia, China, Korea, Singapore, Spain, France, UK, Canada, Africa and all other countries not mentioned should unite and give a helping hand to the countries experiencing calamities, not only natural calamities but also political and economical calamities.
For Japan, this tsunami that devastated your country is just a trial, and so long as people learn to value their country and fellow, you will overcome this situation.

This Week In Technology: Internet Explorer 9 And Windows Phone Series 7
This Week In Technology: Internet Explorer 9 And Windows Phone Series 7
There were a lot of big conferences recently, including Microsoft's® Mix conference, and South by Southwest (SXSW), a conference covering everything from interactive technology to movies and music. Although SXSW started primarily as a venue for musicians, it has expanded in recent years to cover a vast array of media and technologies.
Looking at everything that happened at SXSW and Mix, there was one topic that was surprisingly lacking: location-based technologies, including social media. Sure, everyone was using it, but no one was talking about it. The biggest discussions about it were in terms of which was bigger, foursquare or Gowalla.
Has location-based social media grown so fast that it is already passé to even talk about? Or is it still so new to so many people that nobody really knows what to say? We'd love to know what you think, so feel free to give your opinion in the comments section below.
Internet Explorer 9
Jumping back to Mix, the browser wars got another new weapon this week with Microsoft announcing a new version to the world's most popular browser, lovingly titled Internet Explorer 9. Although final release date has yet to be announced, users can download a beta version to try out some of the new features. It is still early beta, so some features are not yet fully implemented, but it does give users a good idea on the look, feel and speed of the new browser. If you don't feel comfortable downloading beta software then check out the official demos at the Microsoft website. Overall, Internet Explorer 9 has some great potential.
Some of the features include compatibility and support for h.264 video, embedded audio, scalable vector graphics, CSS3, a new JavaScript Engine, and, of course, HTML 5.
This positions IE9 to maintain its edge well into the future. Many of these technologies (embedded audio, h.264 video, etc) allow multimedia displays to function without needing to install specific plugins, like Adobe® Flash®, for example.
The only downside is that IE9 will not be compatible with Windows® XP, only with Windows Vista and Windows 7. This has been one issue preventing the use of IE8 and IE7, since neither was compatible with Windows 2000, and which caused Windows 2000 users to either live with IE6, or to find an alternative.
Even so, as Windows 7 grows, Internet Explorer 9 will also expand, which creates more opportunities for custom web developers and web development in general.
Windows Phone 7 Series
Another big announcement from Microsoft's Mix, was more details about the new Windows mobile operating system: Windows Phone 7 Series. Despite having a horribly awkward name, the new Windows mobile OS looks simply amazing.
Even some of the iPhone™ and Android™ users around our office are struggling to hide their jealousy of some of the new features, and the interface of the new operating system. That's not to say that the new Windows Phone 7 Series will likely unseat Android or the iPhone, but users will definitely get a top-of-the-line product if they choose a phone with the Windows 7 OS.
In addition to demos and presentations, Microsoft also released the software development kit (SDK) which allows us to begin custom application development for the Windows Phone 7 Series OS. Very exciting!
Some of the benefits to Windows Phone 7 include native support for many technologies that are not available on other platforms, including Silverlight™ and DivX™. Windows Phone 7 Series will also supposedly support Flash in the future, but not upon initial release. Even so, Silverlight allows the development of extremely complex applications, including gaming and interactive services, whereas DivX support (even if it is DivX 6) puts it light-years ahead of the iPhone in terms of media compatibility.
Other Notables: Internet Privacy
At Mix, SXSW and other press conferences this week, there was one topic that especially stood out: Internet privacy, including online data security and web-use tracking.
Danah Boyd, a Social Media Researcher at Microsoft Research New England, and a Fellow at Harvard University's Berkman Center for Internet and Society, gave an amazing presentation on Internet privacy. The full text of the presentation can be found here: (http://www.danah.org/papers/talks/2010/SXSW2010.html)
One of the most powerful moments in the presentation came towards the end, when she said:
"For the technologists in the room... When you moved from Web1.0 to Web2.0, you moved from thinking about designing and deploying software to creating living code. You learned to dance with your users, to evolve with them. Those of you who were successful learned the most complicated tango moves out there. This is the mindset you need to address privacy and publicity. You need to have a grounded understanding of what your users are looking for and engage them on the topics. When it comes to publicity, designing a new system is going to be a lot easier than evolving one that is already deployed. If you make something clearly public, users will work around it, using it for what they think makes the most sense. But if you give users a sense of privacy, a sense of intimacy, exposing them can be quite costly, both to you and to them. You may lose your reputation, but remember some people's lives are on the line."
"For the parents and educators in the room... Many of you are struggling to help young people navigate this new world of privacy and publicity, but many of you are confused yourself. The worst thing you can do is start a sentence with "back in my day." Back in your day doesn't matter. What does matter is that you care and that you too are trying to figure out how to make sense of an ever-changing environment. Rather than approaching teens and telling them how things should be, why they shouldn't be putting material online, please consider the value of opening up a dialogue. You have a lot to learn from what teens are trying to do; you once had to make sense of public life too. The difference is that they are doing it in the new environment. Take what you know and then actively listen to teens. Through their struggles, you can see what is new and different."
To us, this is a very powerful statement. It highlights the issues from a developer's standpoint of making products that can effectively engage users but without going so far as to exploit them. It also focuses on helping those unfamiliar with the Internet to understand the full power, potential and pitfalls of having information online.
Not only does this apply to the potential misuse of personal information, which can embarrass or destroy private individuals, but it also highlights the importance for protecting corporate and employee data as well.
With modern day storage covering an estimated 500 Exabyte's of data, so much data in fact that by next year we will be collecting it faster than we can build storage centers to store it all, it becomes particularly important to manage our digital footprint in the same way that we watch out for our physical security.
In either case, Internet privacy and security is something that deserves extra consideration, especially considering recent events with Twitter (releasing user data to developers), Facebook (changing privacy controls), and Google (Buzz, and now the ability to opt-out of tracking), among many others, privacy is something that can hurt businesses and public perception just as much as it can hurt the individuals themselves.

It is time for the U.S. to reconsider its opinion of Nuclear Power
It is time for the U.S. to reconsider its opinion of Nuclear Power
No new nuclear power plants have been licensed and built in the United States sense 1979 in large part due to the scare caused by the partial meltdown that year of a reactor at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania. However, things have changed quite a bit since 1979, particularly from a safety and environmental standpoint. It is time that United States politicians and citizens alike re-examine their thoughts on Nuclear energy.
First off let’s address several American hang ups regarding Nuclear Energy. First off there is the very important issue of public safety, this is and should be a huge concern for the United States however it chooses to move forward in meeting growing energy demand. In the 52 year history of Nuclear power plants in the United States, Three Mile Island is the only accident on record. From an industrial standpoint this is a very good safety record, one not met by many of today’s leading industries. However, there is concern that even one nuclear accident could have such damaging effects on the population and environment that it is not worth the risk. Particularly in the wake of the accident at Chernobyl in Russia there is legitimate concern about the damage that could be caused by even one nuclear disaster.
However, Chernobyl is a unique example of what can go wrong at a nuclear power plant that is not properly built or maintained. All nuclear plants in the United States are built inside huge concrete and steel buildings designed to keep any nuclear waste created in a potential meltdown in and natural forces and terrorists out. This alone would have helped prevent much of the damage caused by the Chernobyl disaster by limiting the amount of toxic material that actually made it off the grounds of the power plant and into the environment. Further the reactor and safety controls at Chernobyl were different in design and function from those used in the United States. The United States has never used the type of reactor used at Chernobyl because it is well know that they are inherently volatile. The safety systems that were in place at Chernobyl did not even meet western safety standards at the time; much less today’s safety standards. Finally, in addition to all of these differences, on the night of the disaster, the safety controls at the plant had been completely shut off and the plant was being run in an experimental mode that increased the danger of meltdown for the already volatile reactor. Thus, while Chernobyl serves as a grim reminder of what can go wrong, there are many factors that set the US nuclear power plants apart from the one at Chernobyl and will prevent anything like Chernobyl ever happening here.
Turning back to the US nuclear power industry it is important to note that even in 1979 at Three Mile Island the safety mechanisms in place were smart enough to shut down the reactor well before it went into meltdown, thereby stopping nuclear chain reactions and limiting the damage. The partial meltdown at Three Mile Island was caused by residual heat and this is a large part of the reason it was not more of a major incident from a safety or environmental standpoint. Sense that time we have completely overhauled our safety controls for nuclear plants to make them even stronger. In the event that something should go wrong today these safety controls would be able to prevent meltdown and contain any radioactive waste within the power plant. Thereby keeping the public and the environment completely safe.
Another major safety concern that has held up the development of nuclear power in this country revolves around what to do with the fuel rods after they are used. Many people feel that this nuclear waste will cause untold harm to the environment and, were we to expand our use of nuclear production, overwhelm any kind of storage facility. Currently a majority of the spent fuel rods in America get stored in sealed cylindrical containers made from steel reinforced concrete. Inside these larger containers each fuel rod is individually housed within its own metal container. The amount of waste created is not that large, one square mile could house the entire amount of nuclear waste that will be produced by the United States for the next 482 years at current levels of production. Stored in this manner fuel rods have never been known to decay or cause any kind of harm, they simply sit as inanimate objects.
In addition to this, technology is currently available that allows what are currently considered spent fuel rods to be reprocessed and re-used to create more power. After rods are recycled the then truly spent fuel rods are much less radioactive and far less harmful, returning to the same level of radioactivity as uranium in the ground within 400 years. Thus the case for nuclear waste causing harm to the environment or being a nuisance really isn’t very strong, in truth most of the current nuclear waste is simply fuel waiting to be reprocessed.
We wound up where we are today in our thinking about nuclear power because we haven’t really reconsidered it as a viable option sense the 1980’s. At that time there was much less good data and evidence available to support global warming and coal was an abundant resource here in the United States. The potential harm and lack of understanding about nuclear energy made it seem much more threatening than simply relying on our own natural resource of coal to provide our power. However, with global temperature on the rise and rapidly increasing effects of global warming, as well as an increased understanding of nuclear technologies, it is time that we transition to nuclear. In the long run nuclear generation will not be the end all solution for our power generation needs but it will be a low emissions way of bridging the gap between now and when truly renewable energy sources are found. It is time that America reconsiders its opinion of nuclear power.

In its attempt to realize the long cherished dream of global disarmament United Nation Security Council has stepped a leap forward by adopting a fresh resolution (Resolution No.1887), which asks every nation to sign Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
But here lies the question; will only signing to the NPT suffice the cause?
To get proper answer of the above raised question we shall have to go through the answer of few other questions. The questions are-What is nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty? What are its objectives? Is it flawless? What is its stand on global disarmament?
Here are the answers. Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty, which came into force in 1970 with a time limit of 25 years and later extended for indefinite period, is an agreement between some states, especially the P-5 nations, which restricts spread of nuclear weapon amongst its signatories in particular and to the whole world in general. Its main objectives are (i) imposition of restriction on spread of nuclear technology (ii) promotion of nuclear technology for peaceful purpose, like development of nuclear energy as an alternative to the popular source of energy (iii) to make the world free from the fear of nuclear ravages. The objectives are good and worth praising. But the flaws it possesses not only limit the usage of this treaty in its endeavor to global disarmament but also create a situation of nuclear polarization with ‘Nuclear Haves’ and ‘Nuclear Have Nots’. The first and foremost flawed point of this agreement lies in the method of distinction between Nuclear Weapon State (NWS) and Non Nuclear Weapon State (NNWS). The treaty defines that NWS is such a state which tested its nuclear weapons before 1967 and all the nations which tested their nuclear weapon beyond that year are Non Nuclear Weapon State. Even though all the developing nations, leaving a few, developed and tested their nuclear weapon after that period. In the various articles of this treaty it is also stated that NWSs are able to develop and upgrade their nuclear weapon and technologies, whereas NNWS (read developing nations) can not acquire nuclear technology. They are even prevented from developing nuclear technology for their exceptional security reasons. So, NPT is not only discriminatory in its approach but also latently legitimizing the nuclear weaponry of the developed world.
Another objectionable point about NPT is its irrationality. It does not take into account the compulsion of a country in developing nuclear weapon. Sometimes, unholy nexus of some countries forced another country to add nuclear weapon in its arsenal. For instance, the USA – China – Pakistan nexus of 1960-70s compelled India to test fire its nuclear weapon in 1974.
Now, when it comes to the stand of this treaty on global disarmament it is inconsistent in its objective and its actual intentions. While the preamble of this treaty says about complete disarmament, its specific provision tells us only about nuclear non-proliferation. It does not mention about other lethal weapons which also possess heavy threat to human life.
Hence, from the above discussion it is evident that the flawed Non Proliferation Treaty is not sufficient for complete disarmament. Though, its framers (read developed nations) give the assurance that they will try their levels best to disarm the globe completely. But one cannot afford to be so credulous, especially, in this age of power play when US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declined to admit that the axis of world power has been changing.
Therefore, in the epilogue it can be said that the global disarmament is not depends upon signing of NPT by NNWS and thereby bringing some nations within the purview of this treaty. Initiative should be taken at individual level and if required jointly with all good will. Let’s hope that humanity will prevail over any vested interest to save the globe from serious consequences of ‘Third World War’.

Time Management Goals Examples
We've all heard the statement that time is money. A cliched saying but remember, it's only clichés that become true.
To avoid time thieves that suck away your productivity whether self-inflicted or not, first plan your day out the night before or over your morning tea or coffee. Base your tasks on your short and long-term goals.
Then group your tasks into whether they are urgent, important, ones that can be delegated and ones that can be deleted.
Important tasks are ones that take you closer to your goals (I'm assuming that you have set your goals for the month and year). Those should be the main focus of your day.
In saying should I recognize that sometimes emergencies do come up that you have to address. Things like putting out fires -- literally and figuratively -- medical emergencies, or anything that requires your immediate attention. But make sure you define to everyone what is and isn't an emergency. Time Management Goals Examples
Tasks that can be delegated can include anything that needs to be done but doesn't take you closer to your goals. This can include mowing the lawn or housework. Make your kids earn their allowance or hire a landscaping or maid service.
Ones you can drop from your time management plan are things that take you away from your goals. Examples include computer games, watching television and reading email (get a good spam filter).
By that I don't mean that you shouldn't relax or take breaks every now and then because if you don't you'll burn out. Just make sure the bulk of your time is spent on your important tasks. Time Management Goals Examples

Indian Nuclear and Missile Tests A Shocking Reality
Indian Nuclear and Missile Tests A Shocking Reality
The failed nuclear tests at Pokhran between 10th and 13th of May 1998 proved to be extreme blunder of the Indian History now. The impact and the set backs of these failed tests caused extreme frustration and unwilling changes in many plans which India was banking on since long.
The main motive of 1998 nuclear tests by India was to completely push Pakistan to back foot. India was all set to give a clear message to the world that it has achieved complete supremacy in the South Asian region due to its Military might and with a stockpile of effective Nuclear Weapons. A huge country with enormous economic growth and unmatchable power of Conventional and Nuclear weapons could have brought great influence to India in this region and probably a confirmed permanent seat in the UN Security Council. There were also false claims made by RAW and Military High ups of India which led the then Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee to had been completely convinced that Pakistan was unable to initiate its own nuclear test in fear of International reaction. But, the most hyped tests were not only proved to be failed but subsequent tests by Pakistan on 28thMay 1998 completely shut the beak of the Indian ostrich. India still curses the loss of huge edge it got before Pokhran tests in 1998 which not only changed the power scene of this region but also threw India into many doubts about its own nuclear capabilities. Intelligence inputs suggest that India is facing another blow due to its failed Missile program which is also creating big head ache for the Military high ups. India is now on an emergency plan with the help of Israel to restructure its Missile program which was previously based on Russian technology. The Missile program now needs a serious upgrading and revamping because of growing challenges in the region. It is also widely believed that among many factors which are believed to be like American pressure and the fear of lack of International support, the possible attack on Pakistan after 26/11 Mumbai terrorism were backed off only due to sorry report of Indian Nuclear capabilities and spineless Missile system. It is also believed that it was after 26/11 when the reports of failed tests of Pokhran came into reality otherwise it was an internal secret before. Following is the complete report appeared on famous Indian News website of Times of India which clearly shows the frustration and complete helplessness of the Indians on the grave matter of dud nuclear tests. Times of India - Srinivas Laxman, TNN 18 September 2009, 01:44am IST //MUMBAI: Eleven years after India tested nuclear bombs in the deserts of Pokhran, embarrassing details about the test fizzling out have exploded into a full blown controversy with top nuclear scientists on Thursday demanding that the government institute an inquiry to determine whether the test failed. Former nuclear czars said they were ashamed that information had been hidden. Three former nuclear leaders -- M R Srinivasan, P K Iyengar and A N Prasad said in the wake of revelations by K Santhanam, project leader for Pokhran II, the government must order a peer review into the yield of the thermonuclear test of May 1998. Santhanam went public first on August 26, saying that the yield from the test was far lower than what prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government claimed. On Thursday, in a newspaper article he disclosed embarrassing details saying the test was a failure because the yield was only 25 kilotons, nearly half of what the scientists had then claimed. He said that a meeting of scientists discussed the failure soon after the test and decided to hide it. He also pointed out that the failure meant that India now did not possess a credible nuclear deterrent, indicating that warheads on India's long-range missile could have far less punch than expected. R Chidambaram, former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission and the architect of the nuke tests; Anil Kakodkar, then director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, and APJ Abdul Kalam who led the team from Defence Research and Development Organisation, have insisted the device operated according to its design specifications and the yield was 45 kilotons. At a meeting on September 5, the AEC dismissed the first statements made by Santhanam, saying through different types of analysis it was established that the yield of the thermonuclear test was 45 KT. Now, even scientists in Barc, the nation's top nuclear weapon establishment, doubt the claim. While saying he was surprised by Santhanam's article, M R Srinivasan, former AEC chairman, told TOI it was time for both Chidambaram and Kakodkar to clarify the situation. ``In such circumstances I think a peer review is certainly warranted,'' he said. At the same time he said he still stood by the official position and would support Chidambaram and Kakodkar regarding the yield of the thermonuclear test. ``A lot of information has been published and is on record. So I have really no reason to disbelieve at this stage either Chidambaram or Kakodkar on this issue. However, because of the current controversy, I think the best recourse would be for both of them to clarify the position through a peer review,'' he added. Former Barc director, A N Prasad, who has all along maintained that the thermonuclear test was anything but a success, said, ``The painful fallout of this episode is that the credibility of the nuclear scientific community and the respectable name of Barc is being damaged by a few at the top.'' In a direct attack on Kalam and Chidambaram, Prasad said: ``If all that Santhanam has written is true, then people occupying high places have misled the country. If all the data about the thermonuclear test has been held by one man (Chidambaram), then how can it be scientifically contested or debated? He has kept it under wraps.'' Stressing that there should be a probe by a committee constituted by the government, Prasad said that the team should comprise those having serious doubts about the yield of the test as well as experts who can include former nuclear scientists who have been raising their voices. ``It should not consist of only yes men. It should consist of those who are knowledgeable, who have the capacity to investigate such a serious matter,'' he said.``If this committee concludes that the thermonuclear test had completely failed then the government has played a major fraud on the people of this country,'' he said. Asked if the AEC itself can investigate, he replied: ``It has credibility, but no expertise.''Another former AEC chief, P K Iyengar said, ``The government should undertake an active investigation immediately following the statements made by Santhanam in the article. I am feeling really ashamed.'' Regarding a revelation in Santhanam's article that the thermonuclear device had not yet been weaponised like the fission devices, he said: ``How will they do it if they are doubtful about the yield? This itself is a clear indication that the test was not a complete success.''Both Iyengar and Prasad said the disclosures by Santhanam, that there was no disturbance to the shafts at ground zero, was also proof that the test was unsuccessful.// The above report is clear evidence that it can be possible that the actual yielded result of the tests could be lower than 25 KT, throwing Indian scientists into complete confusion and had badly shattered their confidence too. It is bad luck for the Indians that the report about the dud tests came at a point when India was all set to teach Pakistan a lesson of the lifetime after 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Amid all these circumstances the failure of Missile tests also aggravated the situation and made Indian Army think that in case of any serious confrontation between India and Pakistan, India would face unbelievable embarrassment if the Military would fail to hit the potential targets and loose the war heads too due to the crashing of Missiles in the middle of its approach or missing the targets completely. In the following report India clearly admits the failed cruise missile test //(AFP) –Jan 21, 2009 NEW DELHI (AFP) — A supersonic cruise missile jointly developed by Russia and India failed to hit its target in a test previously reported as successful, Indian military scientists said Wednesday. The Defence Research and Development Organisation, which Tuesday claimed the test of the BrahMos missile had been a "total success," said the missile had flown only in the general direction of its target. "The missile performance was absolutely normal till the last phase, but it missed the target, though it maintained the direction," BrahMos project chief Sivathanu Pillai told the Press Trust of India. The eight-metre (26-foot) missile weighs about three metric tonnes and can be launched from land, ships, submarines or aircraft, travelling at a speed of up to Mach 2.8. It has a range of 290 kilometres (180 miles) and is designed to carry a conventional warhead. The missile was fired from the Pokhran range in the western desert state of Rajasthan, bordering Pakistan, that was also the site of India's nuclear tests in 1998.The Times of India newspaper Wednesday suggested the failure was a result of an attempt to configure the missile to carry a nuclear warhead. Pillai did not comment on the newspaper's report but said his scientists were trying to debug the guidance system of a missile that had been tested 20 times in the past eight years."A new software used for this mission will be revalidated through extensive simulations and a flight trial will be carried out in a month's time to prove the augmented capabilities of the missile," he said.India and Russia -- its largest military supplier -- hope to mass produce the BrahMos for export. Nuclear-armed India, the largest arms buyer among emerging countries, has already begun arming its navy and army with the BrahMos as a tactical battlefield weapons system. The missile is named after India's Brahmaputra River and Russia's Moskva River.// Further to complete shock to the Indians another Missile test this time of Agni II also failed miserably to break the bone of India's hopes to claim itself to be self reliant in the missile technology. Times of IndiaTNN 24 November 2009, 12:28am IST //BALASORE: India's nuclear-capable intermediate range Agni-II missile, test-fired for the first time after sunset on Monday, reportedly failed to get the desired results. The Army test-fired the surface-to-surface Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) from Wheeler’s Island,Bhadrak district, around 7.50pm.‘‘The liftoff and the first stage separation was smooth. But it faltered just before the second stage separation and behaved erratically, deviating from its coordinated path. Further analysis is on to ascertain the cause,’’ said a source. The entire trajectory of Monday’s trial was tracked by a battery of sophisticated radars, telemetry observation stations, electro-optic instruments and a naval ship. The launch, originally scheduled in the first week of this month, was deferred due to some technical snags in its pneumatic system. Though the snags were rectified, another glitch surfaced during Monday’s test, leading to the fiasco, the source claimed. The nuclear capable 2,000-km-plus range missile has a length of 20 meters, a diameter of one meter, weighs 17 tonnes and can carry a payload of around 1,000 kg. It was first tested on April 11, 1999. The test launch was significant from India's strategic point of view because for the first time since the beginning of DRDO’s missile development programme, a missile was put under trial during night. The user trial was conducted by Army officials while scientists from DRDO were present to provide necessary logistical support // India after recent failures finds itself at a position where it can doubt its own capabilities to handle any nuclear assault either from China or from Pakistan in case of any future conflict in the region. India is now banking on the hopes that Israel would provide the technology of Jericho ground-to-ground missile system which may help India to substitute its garbage program of Cruise Missile and Multiple ranged Missiles which are definitely stuck in the intermediate stage and cannot be completely relied upon. The recent advancing relationship with USA is also helping India to shelve its own Missile technology and substitute it with already tested and dependable technology which America would offer to India to wipe out the sorrow of the failures on the technological front. The set backs after shameful failures in Nuclear and Missile technology left India with no choice but to look towards USA, Israel and Russia to provide their own tested Missiles and few Nuclear Weapons too to maintain its inventory with dependable and trusted Missiles and warheads. But to achieve that, India could be giving many concessions to these countries including access to the testing, production and storage sites of Nuclear weapons and Multiple ranged Missiles. Tsunami warning system
Tsunami warning system
A tsunami warning system(TWS) is a system to detect tsunamis and issue warnings to prevent loss of life and property. It consists of two equally important components: a network of sensors to detect tsunamis and a communications infrastructure to issue timely alarms to permit evacuation of coastal areas.
There are two distinct types of tsunami warning systems: international and regional. Both depend on the fact that, while tsunamis travel at between 500 and 1,000 km/h (around 0.14 and 0.28 km/s) in open water, earthquakes can be detected almost at once as seismic waves travel with a typical speed of 4 km/s (around 14,400 km/h). This gives time for a possible tsunami forecast to be made and warnings to be issued to threatened areas, if warranted. Unfortunately, until a reliable model is able to predict which earthquakes will produce significant tsunamis, this approach will produce many more false alarms than verified warnings. In the currect operational paradigm, the seismic alerts are used to send out the watches and warnings. Then, data from observed sea level height (either shore-based tide gauges or DART buoys) are used to verify the existence of a tsunami.
Other systems have been proposed to augment the warning paradigm. For example, it has been suggested that the duration and frequency content of t-wave energy (which is earthquake energy trapped in the ocean SOFAR channel) is indicative of an earthquakes tsunami potential. The first rudimentary system to alert communities of an impending tsunami was attempted in Hawaii in the 1920s. More advanced systems were developed in the wake of the April 1, 1946 (caused by the 1946 Aleutian Islands earthquake) and May 23, 1960 (caused by the 1960 Valdivia earthquake) tsunamis which caused massive devastation in Hilo, Hawaii.

Laughter is the best medicine!
Laughter is the best medicine!
Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise routine which is fast sweeping the world and is a complete wellbeing workout. It is the brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria, an Indian physician from Mumbai who started the first laughter club in a park on 13th March 1995, with just 5 people. Today, it has become a worldwide phenomenon with more than 6000 social laughter clubs in 65 countries.
Laughter Yoga combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing (Pranayama).Anyone can laugh for no reason, without relying on humour, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group but with eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter.
The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits.
This innovative concept has been widely accepted all over the world and has been written about in prestigious publications like TIME Magazine, National Geographic, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Daily Telegraph (UK) and many others. Laughter clubs were also featured on Oprah Winfrey Show, BBC, CNN, ZDF (Germany) NHK (Japan), ABC news (USA) and many other TV networks in the world.
Why Laughter Yoga – 3 Reasons(according to Dr. Madan):
1. In order to get the scientifically proven health benefits of laughter, we need to laugh continuously for at least for 10 to 15 minutes. Since in Laughter Yoga we do laughter as an exercise, we can prolong our laughter as long as we want. On the other hand, natural laughter comes for just a few seconds here and there and is not enough to bring about physiological and biochemical changes in our body.
2. To reap the health benefits of laughter, laughter has to be loud and deep coming from the diaphragm. It should be a belly laugh. It might not be socially acceptable to laugh loudly, but Laughter Yoga clubs provide a safe environment where one can laugh loudly and heartily without any social implication.
3. Natural laughter that courses through our life depends upon many reasons and conditions, but there are not many reasons which make us laugh. That means we are leaving laughter to chance, it may happen it may not. In contrast, in Laughter Yoga club we are not leaving laughter to chance, but doing it out of commitment. This is a guaranteed way of getting the health benefits of laughter
I have just completed my certificate for Laughter Yoga Leader and it was an absolutely mind blowing experience. I was going through some emotional rollercoaster of late and came upon this beautiful lady whom I met in the Money & You Johor Bharu Graduates tea gathering recommending that I should join her in the journey of sharing laughter to people around us. Somehow, I joined without much hesitancy and I love every single step of the journey.
The amazing part about the effect after the program is that it reflects immediately. I went for lunch with my sister in law, Jacy who also attended the program, a friend from the program and my lovely cousin. Interestingly the aura or essence of our joyfulness spreads like wildfire. There we sat in the restaurant, wondering what else to order, suddenly came the waitress asking us "why are you sitting down? Go clean up the plates!" All of us just burst into laughter as the waitress were teasing us because our tshirt color were exactly the same as theirs. As our laughter travels, came another waiter faking a HOHO HOHO and came up to us and said "Your laughter is like the shaolin monk, the power coming from the solar plexus is amazing!" Then again all 4 of us burst in laughter. This time around the other guests turned over and gave us the weird look and we laughed again. They couldn't resist it and it set off the whole restaurant laughing. All the guests and workers were delighted and felt the fun of joyfulness from just a simple act of laughing.
As we leave the restaurant, several of the workers made remarks such as "come back and laugh again", "ho ho ho" and "what is laughter yoga?". I AM AMAZED! They were very happy with the laughing and they actually took note of what we do from our tshirts! Somehow, I walked out of the restaurant that day feeling very joyful and contented! I am contented because a simple laughter could brighten up the day for so many people just like that, may it be those whom I have known for years or those whom I just met!
I AM INSPIRED! I am inspired to share the great activity with people around! I am inspired to promote it into the corporate culture! I am inspired to spread the joy through laughter! I am inspired to contribute to world peace through laughter!

Time Management Goals And Objectives - 5 Top Tips to Improve Your Time Management Skills
Time Management Goals And Objectives - 5 Top Tips to Improve Your Time Management Skills
Time Management Goals And Objectives
The days seem to go too quickly and if you are someone who doesn't manage their time too good, it may seem as if you have done lots, but not achieved anything substantial. Running a home business required precise time management skills as most of us run a home business part time while having a full time job, home, kids and partners to attend to.
You are not 'superman/woman?', but what can you to to ensure you are effective with your time.
Top Tip One:
What's relevant? what's insignificant? sort out the tasks that will give you a positive return in your day rather than attend to those tasks that are insignificant and have not real benefit.
Top Tip Two:
Can you delegate? If you are able to delegate a task, then go ahead, don't be shy to ask for help. Time Management Goals And Objectives
Top Tip Three:
Are your tasks written down? Or are you an air head and try to remember whats what? Top tip here is to write down your tasks somewhere so that you can see how meaningful they are to your day, or towards you achieving your goals/ objectives of the day.
Top Tip Four:
Give yourself time to reflect during the day and to get yourself back on track. Even though we may have written down our tasks / objectives, depending how the day goes, we can get off track, which is OK, but we need a mechanism to bring yourself back into focus of your tasks / activities.
Top Tip Five:
AT the end of the day, look at the tasks which you did not achieve, and look to see which relevant ones you can bring over for the next day. Make it so that these are the first tasks completed the following day.
Take time to plan your day, as it will more than likely help to keep you on track with what you should be doing. Time Management Goals And Objectives

She has accepted honorary doctorates from the University of Wales and the University of Glamorgan, and in 2008 had the honour of being named by The Times as the 15th "greatest British writer since the war ...

Nuclear Weapons: 20 facts they don't want you to think about

Nuclear weapons: 20 facts they don't want you to think about
(Politicians and their Armageddon machines)
Nuclear arsenals - who wants them? A coterie of politicians.
Why do they want them? - For the illusion of power and to feed their egos.
How do they keep them? - By fostering a culture of fear.
How do they do that? - By positing a Threatening and Unknown Future.
There are 5 primary nuclear weapons states (and four others from proliferation). The politicians of these 5 nuclear states put the future of the citizens of all the other 187 states of the UN at risk as well as their own citizens because of their insistence in keeping their nuclear arsenals.
In no case have the citizens been asked if they want these arsenals.
The reason these politicians want these Armageddon weapons is because they believe it gives them stature and power; makes them players; gets their feet under the top table. For this perceived personal benefit they are prepared to put the survival of the human race at risk.
Nuclear arsenals are the ruthless tools of power-fixated individuals.
In order to keep their arsenals, these individuals must keep the citizens in ignorance. We have a vague dread of these things and what they can do. Humanity has a residual group memory of the unspeakable suffering of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But this is very scary. We don't want to think about it. And that suits the power junkies just fine. Ignorance is power – for the junkies - but not the citizens.
If the truth about nuclear weapons was known there would be millions demonstrating in cities round the world. The arsenals would be dismantled. (By ‘known' is meant really known; not just an idea in our heads. Known in the way we know a loved person has died or we have been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease).
The effects of nuclear explosions on people defy the imagination and our ability (and willingness) to contemplate such degrees of human suffering. But how can we make rational judgements if we do not face the nightmarish facts?
Reciting facts will not ensure the necessary degree of knowing. But it is a start – the basis for critical evaluation.
So here are 20 facts they don't want you to think about:-
There are at least 23,000 nuclear weapons1 in existence: sufficient to wipe out the entire human population of the planet many times over.
Of the 23,000 nuclear weapons in existence around 2,500 are on High Alert2. This means they are ready to be launched at a moment's notice.
The missiles delivering nuclear weapons to their target travel at faster than 1000 miles in 4 minutes3.
The only way our armed forces have of knowing if a nuclear attack is in progress is through an electronic early warning system. This system, like all electronic systems, is subject to malfunction.
When the electronic warning system signals that a nuclear attack is in progress the military chiefs of staff have a matter of minutes to decide if the warning is true or false.
If the chiefs of staff instruct the Prime Minister/President that an attack is in progress he has a matter of minutes to decide if this information is reliable and to press the button launching a retaliatory strike.
Central London would be utterly destroyed by a single megaton bomb.
One such bomb would, due to the blast alone, cause 98% deaths from Westminster to the City of London and from Lambeth to Marylebone.
A modelled attack on Detroit (when the population was 1.32 million) predicted that a single 1 megaton bomb exploded above the city would cause up to 630,000 deaths and injuries from blast alone. 83% of the population would be immediately killed or injured. Many of the remaining population would die or suffer terribly from the effects of radioactive fallout.
One 5 megaton nuclear bomb has as much explosive power as all the explosives used in the second world war.
If a nuclear power station or nuclear waste disposal site were the target of a nuclear attack it has been estimated that the resulting contamination would cover an area nearly 3 times that of Wales.
Survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki referred to the pain and suffering as ‘indescribable' and ‘hell on earth'. Eventually some survivors of Hiroshima arrived in hospital elsewhere. Such was their degree of suffering that when a nurse entered the ward they screamed for her to kill them.
There have been various crises since 1945 when the world came within a hair's breadth of nuclear war. Our luck will run out. The system is held primed at all times.
In one crisis a single man saved the world from destruction. If Stanislav Petrov, in 1983 had told his Russian superiors that his electronic monitors were signalling a massive nuclear attack from the US there would have been a global nuclear war. He did not tell them and the signals turned out to have been due to a malfunction.
A nuclear war would cause a blanket of particles in the atmosphere that would blot out the sun's rays and result in the death of the vegetation on which life depends. This would be in addition to the death to people, animals and plants caused by the explosive power, the radiation and the shockwaves.
Each of the weapons carried on the UK Trident submarine is 7 times more destructive than the Hiroshima bomb which killed 140,000. The UK Trident submarine carries 16 Trident missiles. Each missile can contain 3 No. 100 kiloton weapons. A single submarine is designed to carry over 300 times the destructive power of the Hiroshima bomb.
The nuclear weapons on a single Trident submarine can destroy over 40 million people (extrapolating from Hiroshima).
The UK nuclear arsenal alone has the destructive power to destroy over 80% of the 195 capital cities of the world.
We in the UK have 4 Trident submarines; our ally, the US, has 14.
Trident renewal will cost the taxpayer 97 thousand million pounds yet it is totally useless in opposing any real existing threat.
We ignored the threats from the banking system until the first banks started to collapse. Then we took emergency action.
We are behaving in the same way with the immeasurably more dangerous nuclear weapons arsenals. If we wait till the first nuclear weapons are launched no emergency action will help the millions of dead and dying. Our power-obsessed politicians will have done their irretrievable worst.
